Conant Theatre presents: ‘Mary Poppins’ October 24 through 26
Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, “Cameron Mackintosh and Disney’s Mary Poppins” delighted Broadway audiences for over 2,500 performances and received nominations for nine Olivier and seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. And now, it is being produced at Conant High School.
The jack-of-all trades, Bert (Dylan Carlyon, ‘25) introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane (Bailey Rhyse, ‘27) and Michael (Liam Hamm, ‘28) have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins (Maya Cronfel, ‘25) arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that “Anything can happen if you let it.”
Conant Theatre is pleased to present its production of Mary Poppins beginning October 24 thorough October 26. There will be 7 p.m. shows on all three dates, as well as a 2 p.m. showing on Saturday. Interested in seeing the show? Tickets are on sale here. If tickets are still available, they will be sold at the box office one hour before the show at door 5.
Five Conant staff producers are producing the musical: Katherine Apperson-Skobel, Dave Torpe (Tech Director), Jeff Robinson (Set Director), Kaitlyn Tippery (Costume Director), and Tracy Sharkey (Production Assistant). The show is being student-directed by Emily McCoy, ‘25 (Student Director), Norah Bott, ‘25 (Student Technical Director), and Jessica Pfeifer, ‘25 (Stage Manager).
