Musical 2015: Behind-the Scenes Video of 42nd Street
This year, Conant High School proudly presents 42nd Street, a musical about the street infamously known as the “lullaby of Broadway.” 42nd Street features the daring story of Peggy Sawyer, played by Hannah Lullo, and her journey to become the star of a Broadway show. Peggy is a small-town girl with big dreams of becoming the star of a Broadway show when she arrives in New York City. Along the way, she sings and dances, becomes friends with her fellow chorus members, and goes head on with the leading lady of the show “Pretty Lady”, Dorothy Brock, played by Emily Miller. Peggy shows that hard work, talent and friendship can lead to stardom on Broadway.
Tim Koll, choir teacher at Conant, is the director of the show while Kreg Moorhouse, Conant Band Director, conducts the live orchestra of student musicians. Conant Alumni and Schaumburg On Stage Choreographer Danielle Zyrkowski is the lead choreographer. 42nd Street features fast paced tap dances, as shown in the behind-the-scenes video above, as well as both Men’s and Women’s choruses. A team of students under the direction of various Conant staff have produced the sets and costumes and controlled the lighting, sound and marketing. Some of the hits from the show include: You’re Getting to Be a Habit with Me, Dames, I Know Now, We’re In the Money, Lullaby of Broadway, Shuffle Off to Buffalo and Forty-Second Street.
