Weekly attendance raffle offers chance at $10 gift card
The Conant Boosters recently announced they would be starting a raffle for those who had perfect weekly attendance, meaning they attended school five days in a row for a week, and were on time for all of their classes. School-approved absences, such as field trips and college visits, are not held against students in the raffle.
Every Monday, the previous week’s winners — one from each grade — are announced. These winners are asked to come down to the office, where they can choose a $10.00 gift card from Chipotle, McDonald’s, Starbucks, or Dunkin’.
Cristina Zajac, co-president of the Conant Boosters, is the one who came up with the idea of the attendance raffle. “At a Booster meeting, I made the suggestion of having a weekly raffle to reward student attendance. Every week students attend the full five days, their name will be entered in a raffle…The Booster Club loved the idea and is happy to donate the weekly gift cards.”
Zajac believes that attendance is incredibly important and even has the ability to impact students’ health. “The last few years have made it more difficult for people to put the technology down, practice self-care, eat well, get a good night’s sleep, and wake up when the sun rises and get ready to start our day. Human routines that make us live longer and healthier are becoming harder and harder. This is why it’s so important to get up, get dressed, and come to school — to just live life!”
As the school year comes to a close, the Boosters emphasize that it’s important to stay consistent with weekly attendance. As they put it on their social media promotion post, “Attendance is directly linked to student success!”
