Crier Wants to Know: What do you think of the new Instagram profile layout?

Instagram’s most recent update saw a switch from the classic square grid on user profiles to a vertical 3:4 grid. While there are options for users to adjust the way their images are displayed, this update has still garnered a variety of opinions, so the Crier asked Conant students about their thoughts on the new Instagram layout.

“As a photographer, I think that most people literally just re-crop their photos every time they post on Instagram. Who actually shoots photos in square format?”

“I think I didn’t notice [the new layout], to be fair.”

“Instagram has had the square layout for so long that changing it now feels so improper. Not to mention [that] it’s pretty ugly.”

“I don’t like [the new layout] because it’s weird and complicated. I liked it before.”
