Student of the Week 3: Isabella Ostrowski

Since the beginning of the year, students have recognized teachers who’ve made a real impact in their lives. Now, teachers have also nominated hardworking and enthusiastic students who create a positive atmosphere in class. Each week, a new teacher will nominate a student for the recognition.

This week, business teacher Matthew Marks nominated Isabella (Izzy) Ostrowski, ‘17.

Marks: Izzy is so enjoyable to have in class and she brings such a positive attitude every day. Not only does Izzy excel in my class but she also is extremely involved throughout the school. She is on the Varsity Gymnastics team and was nominated by her teammates as captain for her senior year. In addition to all of the acrobatics that Izzy does for gymnastics, she also balances all of her classes, and clubs with ease. She is currently enrolled in my Technology Applications class, and she is a natural leader. She is extremely helpful to others around her and brings a great deal of value to the classroom. As a senior, Izzy is definitely leaving her mark on Conant High School.

Crier: What motivated you to continue working hard through senior year?

Ostrowski: The thing that motivates me the most is the want to have a successful senior year. I want to make everyday a lasting impression, whether it’s being able to keep all my grades up or getting involved in the things that I love to do.

Crier: What are some of the clubs you love to do in school?

Ostrowski: Gymnastics is my favorite thing that I do in school. It is one of the things that keeps me going, and I couldn’t be prouder of my team this year.

Crier: Do you have any favorite memories with your team?

Ostrowski: One of our greatest moments with my team was scoring a 142.35 against Hoffman. It was our goal to score a 140 and to know that we were able to exceed it showed how much our hard work paid off.

Crier: How do you spend time with family and friends?

Ostrowski: As a family, we always eat dinner together to catch up on what’s going on and on the occasion we all get together to watch a movie. My friends and I are always up to do anything. Some days we just get in the car and go wherever the road take us. We also went to Chicago for the Cubs parade, and it was such a thrill to be able to experience that.

Crier: What is your favorite subject?

Ostrowski: My favorite subject is psychology because it teaches us the inner workings of the mind and explains to us why we do what we do.

Crier: As Student of the Week, what’s one piece of advice you’d give to other students?

Ostrowski: A piece of advice I’d give other students is to continue working hard no matter how difficult the obstacle is. There are times where we want to give up, but you have to remember that hard work pays off so much.
