Three steps to having the best Galentine’s Day

Crier writer Morgan James breaks down the steps for a successful Galentine’s Day.

Spending time with friends is more important than ever, and having a fun, activity-filled Galentine’s Day is desperately needed to connect with friends. There’s no need for a significant other to enjoy Valentine’s Day. Spending Valentine’s Day with your closest friends has become widely known as Galentine’s Day. Whether you choose to visit with a friend or two in person or participate via zoom, I implore you to grab someone you care about and enjoy Valentine’s day with them!

The first step is to pamper yourselves. Do your nails, or go to a nail salon and get them done, whichever you feel most comfortable doing. Pick your favorite color and go all out! Do a face mask; you can buy one from the store, or if you’re feeling crafty, make your own DIY exfoliating mask!

The next step to a successful Galentine’s celebration: order or make your favorite food. Personally, I’d order a cheeseburger and fries. Whatever you’re craving, go all out and eat foods that make you happy. Don’t forget about dessert either, whether it be chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate hearts, or a piece of red velvet cake, make sure you treat yourself to something sweet!

Finally, watch your favorite movies. I definitely recommend rom-coms for the occasion, but you and your gal can pick whichever genre you prefer. If you’re looking for a movie series that’s slightly cheesy but totally captivating, To All The Boys I Loved Before is a go-to favorite. The third and final installment of the movies comes out on Netflix on Feb 12. Early-to-mid 2000’s has so many romantic comedies that again, are slightly cheesy but totally worth a watch. Another one of my favorites is He’s Just Not That Into You.

Whoever you choose to spend your Valentine’s day, whether it be a friend, family member, or partner, stay safe and celebrate Galentine’s style!
