Crier wants to know: what are your thoughts on this year’s Homecoming Theme?
Homecoming is around the corner, and Conant clubs are busy creating decorations to highlight this year’s space theme. Like most Homecoming themes, some students liked the idea, and others…not so much. Crier asked Conant students and staff their feelings about the theme and what their ideal theme would be.
What are your thoughts/feelings on this year’s Homecoming theme?
Christopher Gherman, ‘23
“I like this year’s Homecoming theme because it’s really diverse and you can have a lot of fun with it. There’s a lot to choose from since it’s space-themed. The only thing I wish that you could change is to use more things from Earth rather than outer space, which could bring a lot more character and create a lot more options for clubs that don’t necessarily express their club through space. I feel that since it’s vague, it leaves people wondering with what they want to put exactly. You need to be more specific about what you want from students.”
Nicolas (Nic) Romano, ‘24
“I am not a huge fan of the theme this year because I feel that it’s hard to go along with it because no one really owns anything that goes with space.”
Aparna Prasad, ‘25
“I really like this year’s homecoming theme. It’s really fun. I think it would be cool if we came through door 25 and saw constellations or dangling lights. I like how some parts of it are neon like it’s out of this world, but other than that, I think it’s a normal theme.”
Harish Chandar, ‘26
“I think I like it, but it’s not what I would’ve thought of on my own because I haven’t been to a Homecoming, so I don’t know what to expect. I’m excited for Homecoming. I don’t like the fact that we copied Schaumburg’s theme from last year. I would rather us be more original than that.”
Jennifer Langer, Spanish and French teacher
“I love it. I think it allows for a lot of creativity. I have seen a lot of different themes, and I like when they change it up. Student Council puts a lot of effort into making these dances amazing. I appreciate and am grateful for all of the time and effort put into the planning of all of the dances here at Conant. Clubs also do a fantastic job with the decorations. The Conant Community is the best.”
What is your ideal theme?
Christopher Gherman, ‘23
“All around the world or anything you want, as long as it’s school appropriate like random Homecoming. Random decorations, random stuff like that.”
Nicolas (Nic) Romano, ‘24
“I would much rather the theme be Hollywood because we can all dress up nice just like they do with the red carpet.”
Aparna Prasad, ‘25
“It would be really cool to have a masquerade ball where we all have different masks. I don’t know if it’s allowed in the school or if it’s a bit over the top, but I think that would be really cool. I don’t know if it’s a theme, but a bunch of lights everywhere would be cool too.”
Harish Chandar, ‘26
“Disney sounds cool because multiple characters can become one with the setting because Disney is a full franchise.”
Jennifer Langer, Spanish and French teacher
“A Grey’s Anatomy theme starring Patrick Dempsey.”
