The Crier Inquires: Would you prefer finals before break or after break?
With winter break right around the corner, we asked staff and students about the looming exams that come with the holiday season.
Daniel Hong, ‘22
Would you prefer finals before or after break?
“I would rather have finals before break because during break I don’t want to have nerves to study for finals and be stressed out over break, so I feel like it’d be best to get it out of the way first instead of having to study for it.”
What class is your most stressful?
“Geometry because it’s a lot of formulas, lot of figures, you have to remember a lot of shapes and names, just stuff like that.”
What do you do to stay calm and relaxed during finals?
“Basketball is a good escape for me. When I play basketball, I don’t think about much and it’s something for me to focus on and get things off my mind.”

“Psychology”

“I eat and study. Pizza, Dominos.”
Rosanna Schmitt, Media Assistant
Would you prefer finals before or after break?
“Before break. I feel like it’s easier for the students to be able to study continuously and take the final and then be able to take a physical and mental break during winter break.”
What classes do you think are stressing students out the most?
“Science, like biology and chemistry, there’s a lot of memorization, and math, because math is cumulative, and if you don’t remember what happened at the beginning of the semester it’s a lot of catching up to do.”
Do you have any tips for students?
“My best tip is to stay on top of it as the semester goes through, because if you stay on top of it, then you’re not having to cram at the end of the semester.”
